The dark-store total covers all six apps, Amazon Now included, wherever its count is known. The July 2026 report had no Amazon Now count, so its total covers five apps. JioMart’s Reliance Stores are shown beside the total and are not part of it. There is no August 2026 report. The July 2026 figures covered fewer places than later months, so not all of the rise from July to September is new stores.

Our store count vs the companies’ own figures

Eternal, Swiggy and Zepto publish store counts with their results. Those are taken on the last day of a quarter and come out weeks later, so they rarely match our count, which is taken on a different date. A company may also count some locations, such as partner stores, in a different way.

Flipkart Minutes and BigBasket do not publish regular store counts, so our count is the main figure for them. Amazon’s figure covers its own centres; our Amazon Now count also includes 174 partner More stores it uses as dark stores. Reliance gives no JioMart store count.

What each dark store report covers

How we build each report

Each report starts from a fresh count of stores listed on the apps’ public store locators. Duplicates are merged, closed and planned stores are taken out, and app totals are checked against company figures before anything is published. Amazon Now counts in full, including partner More stores it uses as dark stores. JioMart delivers from Reliance Stores, so it is counted separately. Our counting methodology covers every step.

Between reports, the latest count for each place is in the city index.
